The ETDIL projects investigates our ability to think ethically and make ethical decisions against the backdrop of increasingly menacing attempts of mass-manipulation. Currently, mass-manipulation touches important subjects like global warming, the COVID and other pandemics, and even war and genocide. To that end, various companies, powerful individuals, and governments, are using all available means, online and offline, as well insidious but effective tools like the malicious use of humor (e.g., memes) or even straight up fake news disguised as journalistic pieces, to spread their influence and impose their agendas.
